Most of my work is done custom. This is a flexible process that can be as involved as having several in person consultations to discuss fabrics and design, take measurements and hold fittings (for adult clothes and aprons), or as simple as letting me know some colors and fabrics you like, and saying “go to it!” Most custom work will fall in between these two extremes. For example, a typical custom quilt request will start with the client reviewing fabrics and patterns from any of the places on my links page, and a discussion of the use (whether for a lap blanket, a baby quilt or a king-sized bed). I will then share some basic design suggestions either in person or via email, and we will go back and forth once or twice to finalize the design. After that, it’s all work on my end until it’s finished!

Bags and home decor generally follow this same process.

Orders for grown up clothes will have the most client interaction, as we will want to be sure to make you your dream piece, which will require measuring and fitting sessions. It is still a great idea to start with ideas of colors and patterns, and think of some adjectives that describe the feeling you want to get from your dress or shirt or whatever.

Finally, aprons and kids clothes will fall somewhere between these, as they usually have a flexible fit, but can also be made much more specific to an individual.
